A stay at the newly opened Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel proved to be a lux staycation.
Calgary airport’s recent upgrade includes Marriott’s brand new hotel and is perfect for all those Banff-bound international travellers who arrive in late and need a place to stay before they head to the mountains. Families with young children will find it incredibly accommodating where kids can play in the heated indoor pool (6am-11pm, towels provided), or adults can refresh with a workout in the fully equipped gym.
Even if you aren’t staying, we highly recommend stopping in for a bite at the Marriott’s Yakima Social Kitchen & Bar, headed by German born, Executive Chef Kai Cronsfoth along with his talented team, including Chef Gyanendra Sharma. For a meal before takeoff (6pm-midnight), you’ll find an unexpectedly delicious menu worthy of getting to the airport early. Treat yourself to sous vide Cornish hen with roasted fingerling potatoes and mustard jus (pictured top left), or a beet salad with heirloom tomatoes, goat cheese, and shiraz jelly (pictured bottom right) . For drinks, enjoy a crafted cocktail or an Alberta beer from Half-Hitch Brewing Co.
For those who stay, the suites and rooms at the Calgary Marriott airport hotel were exceptionally well appointed, spacious, and comfortable. Free WiFi, plenty of outlets for charging, crisp linens, bathrobes, toiletries, hairdryer, flatscreen tv, large windows, and little to no airport noise. We also stayed on level 7, with access to the M Lounge (pictured bottom left), which offers complimentary snacks and drinks all day. For those arriving in late, guests can access room service 24hrs/7days a week. Room tip, request a room that offers views of the city and planes arriving.
